On Tuesday night, news broke that legendary Vogue editor Andre Leon Talley had died at age 73.
"Good bye darling Andre," Diane Von Furstenberg wrote on her instagram, breaking the news. "No one saw the world in a more elegant and glamorous way than you did."
Throughout his career, the 2020 Out100 honoree has worked in the fashion industry's most elite circles, many times as the only Black person there. He served as the creative director to Vogue before later serving as the vaunted publication's editor at large. He also has served as a fashion consultant to names like Michelle Obama and was the subject of documentary film The Gospel According to Andre. Here, we go back through the years and look at a few snaps of Talley's life in fashion, where he sat row at front shows and made friends with some of the biggest names in the world.
