Cher. Madonna. Diana Ross. Tina Turner. Elton John. RuPaul. Bette Midler. Carol Burnett.
Besides being global stars there is only one thing those names all have in common: Bob Mackie. At 83 the fashion designer and costumer has truly worked with them all, crafting audacious looks that have stamped their status as global showgirls (and one very special showman.) Mackie's legacy is verified -- though he certainly is due for a retrospective in the Metropolitan Museum of Art's Costume Institute. He was the first-ever Emmy for costume design and has racked up a boatload of other accolades. This for dressing Elton John as Minnie Mouse and Daffy Duck, Carol Burnett as a curtain rod, and more. This started back in the 1960s but spanned up through today, even including his own ready-to-wear line.
Here, we take a look back at just a handful of his iconic looks.
