Former First Lady Michelle Obama brought the house down at the Democratic National Convention on Tuesday night in support of Vice President Kamala Harris's ongoing presidential campaign, and these designers helped her do it!
Obama gave the best speech of the convention so far, while wearing a dark blue sleeveless suit that has had the internet talking ever since.
But where did the look come from, you ask? Well, the crisscross jacket and tuxedo pants Obama wore were designed by Fernando Garcia and Laura Kim for their label Monse's resort 2025 collection!
In an Instagram post, the brand posted that "Michele Obama embodies the Monse woman in every way, exuding the strength and confidence that are at the core of our brand. We are honored to dress such an inspiring leader."
Garcia and Kim, who also serve as the creative directors for Oscar de la Renta, are one of fashion's most dynamic duos and founded Monse in New York City in 2015.
According to its website, Monse is "inspired by menswear and classic tailoring with a deconstructed perspective" and "is a line for modern women who seek to stand out from the crowd without compromising her effortless demeanor."
According to the Monse website, he met Oscar de la Renta and showed him some "doodles," which led De la Renta to encourage him to apply for an internship. Within six years, he was a senior designer.
On Instagram, Garcia marked the occasion with a series of photos of the former first lady.
"What an incredible honor, beautiful words and moving moment," he wrote. "Dressing women like this will always be the reason we do what we do. Thank you to our amazing team at Monse and Meredith [Koop, Obama's stylist] for letting us be part of such an incredible night."
