Simon Porte Jacquemus, the 34-year-old fashion designer and founder of his namesake luxury label Jacquemus, has stolen the hearts of fashion fans everywhere, from his incredibly creative brain to his personal life announcements that keep us gushing. We've compiled a list of 5 things you should know to get to know this incredible designer better, not just based on his work in fashion, but his beautifully-curated life behind the brand!
Jacquemus
It would be crazy (and a disservice) to do an article on Jacquemus and not mention his iconic micro bags! One of the house's most iconic creations is the "Le Chiquito" bag, an ultra-mini handbag that gained massive popularity and became a fashion sensation (the name literally translates to "the little one"). Despite its tiny size, the bag became a must-have item among celebrities and influencers.
Jacquemus started his brand in honor of his late mother, who passed when he was just 19 years old. He has paid ode to her in numerous collections, especially his 2016 resort collection. In an interview with AnOther Magazine while discussing his mother, the designer said, "When I was 19, studying at fashion school in Paris, I felt lost. I didn’t know what I was doing. Then, one month later, my mother died. At the funeral, I told my grandmother that I was going back to Paris. I knew exactly what I wanted to do. My brand would be named after my mother’s maiden name, Jacquemus, and designed for the girl my mother was. My mother died, without any reason, at 42. I realised everything can stop tomorrow. I told myself, 'You need to live your life.'" It's heart warming to watch this genius designer weave his loved ones into his art.
Jacquemus and his partner Marco Maestri broke the internet with a star spangled wedding reception. Not only did this wedding take place in the South of France, the couple even dressed their guests. They handed out white dresses for both the men and women at their wedding to dance in. In attendance were stars like Dua Lipa, who posted about the couple's big day, saying, "Simon + Marco. SUMMER OF LOVE. Celebrating the love of these two special people in my life. The most beautiful day, ceremony, and obviously the most FUN party (they just know how to do it) ~ grateful to experience these moments of pure happiness with youuuu - je t'aime."

The Jacquemus brand is iconic for many reasons — this just happens to be at the top. The designer dressed both himself and popular Puerto Rican singer Bad Bunny in very sexy custom backless suits for the Met Gala in 2023. Not only did it break necks, it landed Jacquemus and Bad Bunny on many publications' best dressed list for the entire event, which, as we all know, is no easy feat!
Jacquemus has never been silent on his advocacy for LGBTQ+ rights and visibility. Though designer has been out and proud since the beginning of his career, there are, however always be a hater lurking in the shadows. Jacquemus famously fired back online at homophobic comments left on the brand page in 2022 in the most epic way possible. Not only did he fire back, but it was SPICY. This designer is not the one to mess with, and we love to watch him put the homophobes in their place!
Jacquemus and Maestri announced the arrival of twins in April of 2024. The couple let us in on the announcement in an Instagram post. "MIA et SUN," Jacquemus captioned his pic. "Welcome to earth, our love. We love you so much. Our dream has come true with you. Papa Marco and Papa Simon." There is no doubt, these babies will be sporting custom Jacquemus in no time!
