As we hit the depths of winter, there is one little ray of sunshine-y solace coming our way: spring fashion ads! If you're a fashion dork, seeing the new campaigns is always a minor thrill--kind of like seeing the coming attractions at the movie theater. Anyways, one of our favorite spring '12 shows was, of course, Prada, with its wildly kitschy, retro Elvis-gone-golfing vibe. Prada just released the images, shot by photographer David Sims, starring Michael Pitt (from Hedwig and the Angry Inch, The Dreamers, and Boardwalk Empire). The company released a statement noting that Pitt has been styled to resemble various archetypes of the Golden Age of Hollywood, from rockstar to the playboy. Pitt may seem like an unlikely choice, but somehow it all works, which is apropos for Prada, a brand known for breaking the rules and then being praised for doing so.
