There is much to be said about fashion designer Marc Jacobs. In fact, there has been much said, and there will be much more said in the coming weeks as he shows his womenswear collection on Monday evening and his designs for Louis Vuitton later in the month. But many know that behind Jacobs is Robert Duffy, his business partner and best friend since the mid-1980s, helping the whirlwind force maintain his ever-expanding world. While Jacobs's personal life is often the fodder for gossip magazines and websites (ours included), Duffy has maintained a relatively low profile--mostly. But today, WWDexplores Duffy's personal life which includes a husband, Alex Cespedes, whom he married in Massachusetts in 2010, and a daughter, Victoria Alexis Duffy, the latest addition to arrive this past summer. Just in time for Valentine's Day, the article explores the changing dynamics of Duffy's relationship with Cespedes and with his job since Victoria's appearance. You should really read the entire thing, as it's a sweet break amid all the Fashion Week hubabaloo, but one thing struck me as pretty funny. The couple explained to WWD that the biggest fight between them has been over Victoria's weight. Don't take it out of context, because I can only imagine how delicate every little thing becomes when first raising a child, and the couple did end up taking her to a pediatrician who advised them to cut back on her milk intake before bed, but it did strike me as somewhat comical that a fashion couple would obsess over a baby's weight. WWD notes that the humor wasn't lost on them, either: "I keep saying childhood obesity starts in infancy, and Alex says, 'So does anorexia,'" Robert quips." Read the entire story here.
