WWD is reporting that the Swedish retailer H&M is adding the ever elusive French design house Maison Martin Margiela to their list of big name partners. Following the media hoopla of its lines with Italian brands Versace and Marni, H&M is expected to announce a forthcoming union with the experimental Margiela. Recent capsule collections have leaned towards the commercial, but H&M found much success when it paired with Rei Kawakubo of Comme des Garcons in 2008. Though neither parties have confirmed the collaboration, it will be infinitely interesting to see what Margiela would produce for the store, if they'd use their signature four stitches, and to see how they'd balance their typically cryptic approach to publicity with the usual flourish that H&M brings to the table.
