This year's CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund finalists were announced yesterday. Rag & Bone designers Marcus Wainwright and David Neville and Vogue editor-in-chief Anna Wintour revealed the names of the ten brands which will vie for a $300,000 grant, and we're happy to see some of our favorite new talents in the shortlist.
Dao-Yi Chow and Maxwell Osborne of Public School could be serious contenders, having already snatched the Swarovski Award for Menswear design at the CFDA ceremony last month.
Another highlight is Tim Coppens, a standout at the latest New York Fashion Week.
In addition to the prospect of a hefty check, the finalists of the CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund will take part in a special design project for Japanese retailer Uniqlo, to be unveiled in October. They will also present a selection of looks during a runway show presented at L.A.'s swanky hotel Chateau Marmont.
Former recipients of the Fashion Fund include Alexander Wang, Proenza Schouler, and Joseph Altuzarra. The grant is considered a huge push for emerging designers trying to expand the reach of their label.
The lucky winner(s) will be announced on November 11 after a four-month review and in-depth interviews with the CFDA committee members.
