The outspoken Chanel creative director has been in the news lately for all the wrong reasons -- namely for throwing considerable shade at Adele (she's a "little too fat") and Pippa Middleton ("I think her sister looks better"). But The World According to Karl(Flammarion), a new collection of saucy quips, reminds us why we started worshipping at his altar in the first place. Below, some of his best.
"Think pink, as Diana Vreeland said -- but don't wear it."
"Trendy is the last stage before tacky."
"Every era gets the bad taste it deserves."
"I don't mind being kind, but it mustn't show."
"The minute you think the past was better, your present is second-hand, and you become vintage -- it's OK for clothes, not that great for people."
"I don't need to shop for food because I never eat."
