Have you ever seen a fashionista walk in her stilettos anywhere above 86th Street? Nope, we haven't either. So it was no small feat that Alexander Wang's event for the launch of his collaboration line with H&M managed to drag the New York glitteratti --Solange Knowles, Jessica Chastain, Justin Theroux, and Mary J Blige were front and center-- all the way to the Hudson Armory, 169th Street, in New York's Washington Heights.
Granted, everyone wanted to get their hands on the clothes: After an eye-popping runway show, which involved a free jumping number and a cast of gorgeous models (hey, Tyson Beckford!) stomping the runway at full speed (watch the video, below), guests rushed to the backstage to get first-dibs on the collection.
Then, when the shopping session ended, models and mere mortals mingled until rapper Missy Elliott burst out onto the stage and treated guests with a long-awaited comeback performance. She rhymed her way through her biggest hits --"One Minute Man", "Pass That Dutch", and "Work It" haven't aged a bit-- in her Wang-by-H-and-M outfit and asked the audience to put away their phones (damn right!), before diving in the mosh pit. A fan girl attending the show by our side screamed "Missyyyyyy!" and attracted the MC. She got so close to us that we got our freak on together as she blasted the hook of "Lose Control":
Quick, Missy, give us a new album! As for the fashion bit, you'll have to wait (in line) until November 6 for Alexander Wang's designs to hit H&M stores worldwide. Sorry 'bout it!
