A hundred years ago, the 16-year-old Salvatore Ferragamo emigrated from Italy to California where he found what would become the internationally celebrated Salvatore Ferragamo brand. Specializing in luxury shoes, leather, and ready-to-wear mens and womenswear, Ferragamo has long been a favorite of the Hollywood elite. To mark the centenary celebrations, the company has unveiled A Man's Story, a photo and video project inspired by the founder's legendary entrepreneurial spirit.
The series offers an intimate look at the attitudes of a rather eclectic group of men. But what unites actor Douglas Booth, music artist A$AP Rocky, ice hockey player Henrik Lundqvist, photographer Ryan McGinley and entrepreneurs Alexander Gilkes, Louis-Marie de Castelbajac and Tyrone Wood are their relentless and self-fueled drives. As the project's photographer and filmmaker, Francesco Carrozzini, says, "From A$AP Rocky to Ryan McGinley what links these young men is their single-minded approach to life. They've not been afraid to make their own rules, even when it's meant potential failure. That's what makes them so inspiring, and the stories they've shared with us so compelling."
In addition to the series' main video, which incorporates all the men together, there are also personal profiles on Ferragamo's website. With a short video and series of photos, each tells of how they came to be the men they are today.
