The upcoming holiday romantic comedyLast Christmas won't just feature the music of George Michael, it will also include a previously unreleased song by the late queer pop legend.
The film, from Bridesmaids Director Pul Feig, follows Kate (Game of Thrones' Emilia Clarke), who works as an elf at a novelty Christmas shop and attempts to become less jaded, just in time for the holidays. She has some help in the form of Tom (Crazy Rich Asians' Henry Golding) and her boss (Goulding's Crazy Rich Asians co-star Michelle Yeoh.) Emma Thompson also stars and co-wrote the film's script with Bryony Kimmings.
As Feig revealed in August, Michael was involved with the film before his death in 2016. "He knew [the movie] was going to happen, and that gives me such joy. We feel like he's here with us," Feig told Entertainment Weekly.
The tracklist for the film's soundtrack has now been released, and on it are classics like "Faith," "Freedom," and "Wake Me Up Before You Go-Go," as well as the title song. Plus, there's a previously unreleased George Michael song: "This Is How (We Want You to Get High)," will also be included.
"The wisdom and emotional scope of George's lyrics have always amazed me. So many feel like they were written for the movie," Thompson said in a statement released with the tracklist. "After I met George and experienced his compassion and understanding up close, I realized that in fact the movie was written for those lyrics."
Last Christmasis in theaters November 8.
