Cardi B will make her feature film debut alongside one of the most sickening casts of all time -- it's what she deserves. Deadline reported Tuesday that the Grammy-winning rapper will appear in Hustlers alongside Jennifer Lopez, Crazy Rich Asians' Constance Wu, Riverdale's Lili Reinhart, Scream Queens' Keke Palmer, Transparent's Trace Lysette, and 90s icon Julia Stiles. This lineup ... Avengers: Endgame is quaking.
According to Deadline, Hustlers "inspired by a 2016 New York Magazine article, follows a crew of savvy former strip club employees who band together to turn the tables on their Wall Street clients." So you're telling me that Cardi B, JLo, and Julia Stiles are teaming up for a movie about strippers getting revenge on the patriarchy? Gay, and I cannot stress this enough, rights!
The film is being written and directed by Lorene Scafaria (Nick & Norah's Infinite Playlist, Seeking a Friend for the End of the World) and starts shooting later this month. No release date has been announced.
"We could not have asked for a more exciting or talented lineup of performers to join our cast," STXfilms Adam Fogelson told Deadline. "STX is thrilled to reunite with Jennifer ... to bring this unexpected, entertaining and often shocking story to the big screen for audiences worldwide."
Cardi's previous work as a stripper is also a huge part of her mythology ("Look, I don't dance now, I make money moves"), making her the perfect star for this film in what will hopefully be an empowering narrative for sex workers. And let's not forget Julia Stiles' moves from Save the Last Dance. JLo ... does it even need to be said? The power that Hustlers already has is truly undeniable.
