The Marvel Cinematic Universe is getting increasingly gay and doesn't look to be slowing down. Now a new report claims that a beloved queer comics character may be joining the MCU in the next Captain Marvel film.
We Got This Covered reports that Hulkling, one-half of one of Marvel's most well known queer comics couple, will appear in Captain Marvel 2. Hulkling is a hybrid of the Kree and Skrulls, two alien races whose war with each other was the central conflict of the first Captain Marvel film. Hulkling's ancestry gives him both super strength and shapeshifting abilities, but it's his romance with Young Avengers member Wiccan, also known as the son of Scarlet Witch (Elizabeth Olsen), that has made him so popular in the fandom.
We Got This Covered'so sources, who have previously confirmed big Marvel news before it was announced, said that Hulkling will "have a small role in CM2 but will feature more prominently in Young Avengers," which is allegedly being developed for Disney's new streaming service, Disney+. Hulkling will be depicted as gay and involved with Wiccan, who is said to debut in the upcoming Disney+ show WandaVision, which will star Olsen and Paul Bettany as their Avengers characters and premieres sometime in 2021.
This is the latest of several LGBTQ+ related announcements for Marvel, which recently confirmed that Tessa Thompson's Valkyrie will be looking for a girlfriend in Thor: Love and Thunder and that one of the male members of The Eternals will be gay and married with kids.
