An all-star lineup of queer voices is coming to a screen near you soon, as RuPaul, Lilly Singh, and Hannah Gadbsy join the cast of the upcoming Aniventure animated movie Hitpig.
According to Deadline, Singh (A Little Late With Lilly Singh), who became the first out bisexual woman of color to host a late night show last year, will star as Pickles, a "niave, ebullient elephant who has escaped the clutches of an evil trillionaire." Hot on her trail is Hitpig, a "grizzled porcine bounty hunter" played by Peter Dinklage (Game of Thrones).
While Hitpig initially is trying to capture Pickles, the two find themselves becoming an unlikely duo who goes on a futuristic globe crossing adventure that "brings out the best in both of them."
RuPaul and Gadsby's roles have yet to be announced, but both have unique voices that will surely add a layer of fun and surprise to the film. Rainn Wilson and Danny Boon round out the cast.
The movie is based on characters created by Berkeley Breathed, who is also writing the screenplay, for his picture book Pete & Pickles. Maurizio Parimbelli, who's co-directing alongside Cinzia Angelini, said that "there is no one funnier than Lilly, but she'll also bring a warmth and loving side to Pickles." Breathed added that the Singh and Dinklage will "bring heartfelt, hilarious performances to our lead characters and deliver the message and theme I had intended when I conceived the story."
Hitpig is currently in production at Cinesite and will be released sometime in 2022.
