The ‘Sense 8’ actor, who recently came out, will play alongside Keanu Reeves.
Looks like Sense 8's Brian J Smith has another gig on the horizon. The actor has just been announced as a part of the next installment in The Matrix series.
As of yet, there's been no news of what role Smith will play -- nor any of the other actors for that matter. Maybe Mr. Smith will play some version of Agent Smith? To on the nose? You're right.
We do know Keanu Reeves and Carrie-Anne Moss will reprise their roles as Neo and Trinity, respectively. Jada Pinkett-Smith will also be back as Niobe. But otherwise, we aren't really sure; Priyana Chopra, Jonathan Groff, Neil Patrick Harris, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, Andrew Caldwell, Toby Onwumere, and Jessica Henwick are all onboard in unannounced roles.
Lana Wachowski, who created the series with her sister Lily, will write and direct the film in a solo act this time. "Many of the ideas Lilly and I explored 20 years ago about our reality are even more relevant now." she said, according to Variety. "I'm very happy to have these characters back in my life and grateful for another chance to work with my brilliant friends."
This will all sort of be a moment of reunion for Wachowski and Smith given that the director also created Sense8 with her sister.
There are some changes though: since their last time working together, Smith came out as gay. Maybe we'll see some of that action on screen too?
