If you're a fan of lesbian period dramas, we've got news for you: the niche genre is growing yet again.

Set against the backdrop of the 1930s Nazi invasion of Czechoslovakia, The Affair stars Kingsman franchise's Hanna Alstrom as Liesel Landauer. She, along with her husband Viktor Landauer, played by Claes Bang, is filled with optimism and happiness in their new home, which is a city landmark given that within it is a much-famed "glass room." But, according to the official synopsis, "all too soon, extramarital temptations bring out their darkest secrets and desires." As the trailer, premiering on Out, reveals, for Liesel chief among those desires is her passionate friend Hana, played by Game of Thrones' Carice Van Houten, who she turns to for the passion her marriage lacks.

Their lives are torn apart by their circumstances: the Nazis hound their husbands as they are Jewish, and their love letters are intercepted leading to incessant questioning. It is a story of love and life-changing decisions as they are forced to answer questions of loyalty to one another, to their families, and to the Nazi regime. This all in a beautiful sensually shot drama that will release digitally on March 5.

The project was previously released in Czech theaters under the name The Glass Room. It is an adaptation of British author Simon Mawer's international best-seller of the same name. Julius Sevcik directed the feature.
