In honor of the film becoming available to stream digitally on demand today, Out is premiering an exclusive clip of Bleecker Street's critically-acclaimed comedy Together Together featuring stars Patti Harrison and Julio Torres.
Earlier this year, we called Together Together "the film that should make Patti Harrison a star." In it, she plays a young cisgender woman named Anna who's working as a gestational surrogate for a middle-aged man named Matt played by Ed Helms.
The film features a terrific performance from Harrison as a disaffected Millennial figuring out what it means to help make a baby and navigating the relationships that come when you do. It marks the first time a trans actress has starred in a movie as a cis woman, and Harrison does such a great job there should never be a question on whether trans actors can play cis roles ever again. She could also become the first out trans actor to break through and finally get an acting nomination for a major movie award.
Torres plays Harrison's coworker at a local coffee shop and of course, steals every scene he's in. He's part of a great queer cast that also includes Tig Notaro, one of the breakout sex symbols of this summer for her role in Army of the Dead.
In the clip shared with Out, we get to know Anna's life a little bit better, as we see her interact with her coworker. The two of them joke around about Matt, who invented a popular dating app used by Torres' character, and try to figure out what language to use when talking about the baby. It's a perfectly understated comedic scene between the two of them.
The film debuted at Sundance, and was picked up by Bleecker Street. When it debuted in selected theaters, it won the specialty box office two weeks in a row, earning over a million dollars.
Together Together is out on digital on demand today, May 11. Watch Out's exclusive clip below.
