Tommy Dorman has found her lead.
Ma and Girl Meets World actor Corey Fogelmanis has been tapped to star in the drama I Wish You All the Best, based on the bestselling YA novel of the same name. 13 Reasons Why star Tommy Dorfman is writing, directing, and producing the film.
I Wish You All the Best follows Ben (Fogelmanis), a "creative, bright and introverted" nonbinary teen who is kicked out of their house by their ultra-religious Southern parents when they come out. They move in with their estranged sister and meet new friends, embarking on "a journey of self-discovery that teaches them about love, friendship, and family."
Fogelmanis fills out a cast that already includes several queer actors. Amy Landecker (Transparent) and Judson Mills (Westworld) are set to play Ben's Christian parents, and Lexi Underwood (The First Lady) and Lisa Yamada (Never Have I Ever) are set to play two of Ben's friends. Additionally, Brian Micheal Smith (9-1-1: Lone Star) is playing Ben's boss.
Out actor Miles Gutierrez-Riley (The Wilds) has also been cast in an undisclosed role, but could be playing Ben's love interest.
Fogelmanis had his breakout role playing autistic student Farkle Minkus on the Disney Channel's Girl Meets World, a spinoff of Boy Meets World. He's also appeared in the horror anthology series Into the Dark, and the Octavia Spencer thriller Ma. Next up, he's starring in Netflix's coming-of-age romance series My Life with the Walter Boys.
When Dorfman announced she would be writing and directing this project, she put out a call on social media for actors to play Ben.
"We are casting somebody to play a non-binary teenager in North Carolina who is coming of age and falling in love, and figuring out who they are after a tragic incident with their family," she said.
"So, if you fit this description in any way shape, or form, and you are interested in auditioning for this film, and you think you can play the role of Ben and carry this movie alongside some really amazing actors this fall, starting shooting in October, I believe. Then please, please, please go to Atomic Honey's casting page," she added.
It looks like Fogelmanis was the actor she was looking for.
