He's just a hunk of burning love!

Do you like Huey Lewis and The News? Austin Butler does, and we're suddenly all shook up!

Butler, who earned an Oscar nomination for playing Elvis Presley in the biopic Elvis, has now been cast in Luca Guadagnino's highly anticipated upcoming American Psycho film (via Variety).

The new American Psycho film has a script by Scott Z. Burns (The Laundromat). According to reports, Guadagnino's version won't be an actual remake of the 2000 film directed by Mary Harron and starring Christian Bale as the murderous and psychopathic yuppie Patrick Bateman. Instead, it will be a new adaptation of Bret Easton Ellis' book of the same name published in 1991.

It will be Guadagnino's third horror film following Suspiria and Bones and All.

Guadagnino is currently one of the most exciting directors in film. In 2024, the Italian director made two of the best films of the entire year: Challengers and Queer. Audiences and critics alike are also excited about his work — Queer was nominated for a Golden Globe for Best Actor (Daniel Craig), and Challengers earned four nominations including Best Actress (Zendaya) and Best Motion Picture.

As a result, all upcoming projects from Guadagnino have a lot of hype surrounding them.

Guadagnino recently wrapped shooting another film, After the Hunt, starring Julia Roberts and Andrew Garfield. He's also working on the film Separate Rooms, which tells the story of an Italian writer mourning the loss of his boyfriend.

The original American Psycho (2000), starring Christian Bale, is streaming on Netflix.
