Why not both???
Zendaya, Josh O’Connor, and Mike Faist are the stars of Challengers — a new movie from Call Me By Your Name and Bones and All director Luca Guadagnino.
The film sees Zendaya playing Tashi Duncan, a tennis prodigy who’s transitioned into coaching. She also got married to Art Donaldson (Faist), a tennis superstar who happens to be on a losing streak. But as Tashi carefully plans her husband’s big comeback, she signs him up for a match with a challenger known as Patrick Zweig (O’Connor), a.k.a. her ex-boyfriend.
In a new clip from Challengers, we see Art and Patrick hanging out at the beach and enticing Tashi to join them in a hotel room. “We have beer,” Patrick teases, but Tashi walks away from that particular invitation… at least by the time this clip ends.
The promotional campaign of Challengers has been serving up major sexual tension between Zendaya, O’Connor, and Faist. And as expected, queer fans are feeling very excited about this love triangle.
There’s also a phenomenal track record from Guadagnino when it comes to making great movies that are either queer or queer-coded — which means that we have every right to look forward to the steamy scenes and complicated dynamics in Challengers.
We have to stan.
Challengers opens Apr. 26 in theaters
