Queer is getting closer and closer.
We are absolutely foaming at the mouth waiting for the first trailer for Luca Guadagnino's upcoming drama/romance Queer, but for now, this first clip showing stars Daniel Craig and Drew Starkey in action will have to hold us over.
Queer, which just had its premiere at the Venice International Film Festival earlier this week, follows an American expat named William Lee (Craig) living in Mexico in the 1950s. There, he meets a young man named Allerton (Starkey) who was discharged from the Navy, and the two start a passionate affair.
The film is expected to be Guadagnino's sexiest and best yet, even coming the same year as his previous best and sexiest movie, Challengers.
We've been eagerly anticipating when we'd get to see a clip from the movie, and now that it has had its Venice premiere, we've got one!
In the new clip, Craig's character William Lee walks quickly down the street and goes into a bar where he orders and downs a shot. That's when he notices a young man sitting in the corner.
Lee wants to flirt with the man, and stands up and gives him a goofy bow, which doesn't get the response Lee hoped for.
Sitting dejectedly back at the bar, Lee takes another shot as two of his friends laugh. "Fuck you, Tom," Lee says.
We can't wait to see the whole thing!
Queer has been officially picked up by A24 for distribution, so now we're just waiting to find out when it will come to screens across America!
Queer also stars Lesley Manville, Jason Schwartzman, Henry Zaga, Drew Droege, and Ariel Schulman. The script was written by
Challengers screenwriter Justin Kuritzkes.
