We love to spill some tea. Except when it’s sand!
Starring Aaron Jackson, Josh Sharp, Nathan Lane, Megan Mullally, Bowen Yang, and Megan Thee Stallion, Dicks: The Musical is one of the most outrageously funny (and queer!) comedies of the year.
In this exclusive clip debuting on Out, fans can watch the characters of Craig (played by Sharp, who is pretending to be Jackson's character Trevor) and Evelyn (played by Mullally) having a mother-son conversation over some tea. Craig switched places with his long-lost brother Trevor to get to know his mother more, and during a cute little tea party, Evelyn says she has just seen a film from the Criterion Collection, which prompts him to call her “very cultured.”
But just as they settle on the fact that Evelyn is now “cultured,” Craig watches his mom pouring some “tea” in a cup. Except, it’s not tea: it’s sand.
“Oh my god, I switched the tea and the sand again,” Evelyn says. She then justifies, “I’m going fast!”
This is exactly the kind of weird, kooky interaction that perfectly encapsulates everything we love about Dicks!
Much like Anakin Skywalker in Star Wars: Attack of the Clones, we don’t like sand – especially if we’re supposed to drink it as tea.
But all tea no shade, Dicks: The Musical is still in theaters. If you haven’t seen it yet… run, don’t walk!
Dicks: The Musical is now playing in select cities and hits theaters nationwide on October 20.
