As the hunkiest male character from any Disney animated film, it takes a certain kind of actor to bring Hercules to life in the upcoming live-action adaptation of this animated classic.
1997's Hercules introduced fan-favorite characters among Disney fans such as Meg, Hades, and the Muses. The movie also featured fantastic Disney bops such as "Go the Distance," "I Won't Say (I'm in Love)," "Zero to Hero," and "The Gospel Truth."
For the past few years, Disney has been extremely successful at releasing live-action adaptations of classic animated films such as Maleficent, Beauty and the Beast, The Lion King, and Aladdin, to name a few. As a result, it's been widely reported that Disney is actively working on a live-action adaptation of Hercules as well. Marvel Cinematic Universe directors Joe and Anthony Russo - a.k.a. the Russo Brothers - are attached as producers, and Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings writer Dave Callaham has been chosen to write the script.
As expected, these reports have led to speculation surrounding which actors will be picked for which roles in the live-action Hercules movie.

Fire Island heartthrob Zane Phillips tweeted out that he "volunteers" to play Hercules in this upcoming live-action adaptation. Phillips is also known for playing Ben on The CW's Legacies.

Jeremy Pope has made waves for his performance in the Amazon Studios film One Night in Miami..., as well as his characters on shows like Hollywood and Pose. He would clearly be a great pick to play the titular character in Hercules.
Bridgerton standout Jonathan Bailey is another queer actor who would be another fantastic choice to play Hercules. Not only does Bailey have the looks, but he also has the charisma and gravitas to pull off this performance.
Arrow and San Andreas star Colton Haynes is another very interesting choice for the role of Hercules. With so many queer themes in Hercules where the character feels like he never fits in with society, Haynes could bring his personal experiences of coming out in Hollywood.
Rafael L. Silva has gained a lot of recent notoriety for playing Carlos Reyes on Fox's 9-1-1 Lone Star. Silva certainly fits the bill when it comes to the physical attributes of Hercules, and perhaps this live-action movie could introduce the actor to an even wider audience.
The CW fans know Jordan Calloway for his performances as Chuck Clayton on Riverdale and as Khalil Payne (a.k.a. Painkiller) on Black Lightning. This is another actor who definitely has the physique to play Hercules and could bring out different sides of the character.
Jacob Elordi plays everyone's favorite conflicted white dude on Euphoria, and he'd be a great pick to play the titular character in a live-action Hercules. Particularly when looking at his performance as Noah Flynn in The Kissing Booth movies, Elordi could absolutely pull off a great Hercules.
Charles Melton, best known for playing Reggie Mantle on Riverdale and Ariana Grande's love interest in the "Break Up With Your Girlfriend, I'm Bored" music video, is another great potential casting choice for the role of Hercules. Melton has the looks, the charm, and the likability that the character requires.
A very obvious choice for the live-action Hercules is Liam Hemsworth. His older brother, Chris Hemsworth, has probably already aged out of playing the character...but Liam could still pull off playing a coming-of-age Hercules in the live-action remake.
Lewis Tan's acting credits include Deadpool 2, Into the Badlands, and 2021's Mortal Kombat. With his great physique and infectious charisma, Tan could be a great choice to play Hercules in the upcoming Disney adaptation.
Dear White People heartthrob Brandon P. Bell could play a live-action Hercules perfectly. Other than his role as Troy Fairbanks on Dear White People, Bell is also known for appearing on Traitors and Insecure.
Beau Mirchoff portrayed a lovable - and often very confused - "himbo" on Now Apocalypse, which definitely makes us think that he could pull playing Hercules just fine. Otherwise, Mirchoff is known for playing Drew on I Am Number Four and Jamie Hunter on Good Trouble.
Trevante Rhodes will never be forgotten after his legendary performance in Moonlight, and he's another actor who could play a great live-action version of Hercules. Other than appearing on the Oscar-winning film, Rhodes' acting credits also include The Predator and Bird Box.
Another straightforward casting choice for the live-action Hercules adaptation is Nick Jonas. Over the years, Jonas has proven himself as a very charismatic and successful actor outside of his singing career. Having his looks and physique is definitely not a bad thing, either!
Zac Efron had a similar "Zero to Hero" journey as he transitioned from Troy Bolton of High School Musical to the A-list movie star he has become. One can be certain that Efron would be a strong choice to play Hercules in the live-action film.
