The first trailer for The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes is here!
Starring Tom Blyth as a young Coriolanus Snow, this prequel film is set decades prior to the events of Katniss Everdeen in The Hunger Games series of movies. Euphoria actress Hunter Schafer plays Coriolanus’ older cousin, Tigris Snow, who works for a fashion designer and happens to be the breadwinner of the Snow family at this particular time.
Other high-profile actors attached to the prequel include Rachel Zegler as Lucy Gray Baird, Viola Davis as Dr. Volumnia Gaul, Peter Dinklage as Dean Casca Highbottom, and Josh Andrés Rivera as Sejanus Plinth.

As the story goes, Coriolanus Snow – who eventually becomes President Snow in the original The Hunger Games trilogy of books – is struggling to keep his family’s finances and honor afloat. With the 10th Hunger Games taking place, Coriolanus is one of 24 Capitol students who are assigned to mentor different tributes. Coriolanus happens to be assigned the girl from district 12, Lucy Gray Baird, who reveals herself to be a fantastic and captivating singer.
And yet, in their relentless desire to survive in the world of Panem, there’s much more to the story between Coriolanus and Lucy. The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes is a fascinating prequel that documents the rise of the man who becomes President Snow, Katniss’ ultimate archnemesis.
