After it had been confirmed by multiple reports that Lady Gaga was not going to perform her Oscar-nominated song “Hold My Hand” (Top Gun: Maverick) at the 95th Academy Awards, the singer surprised audiences with a same-day announcement that she would, in fact, perform at the award ceremony.

Even though Gaga is currently in deep production mode for the Joker: Folie à Deux sequel – in which she will play the character of Harley Quinn – the popstar and actress took some time from her schedule to attend the 2023 Oscars and honor Top Gun: Maverick with a dazzling performance of “Hold My Hand.” The song was nominated in the Best Original Song category this year along with “Lift Me Up” (Black Panther: Wakanda Forever), “Naatu Naatu” (RRR), “Applause” (Tell It Like a Woman), and “This Is a Life” (Everything Everywhere All At Once).
