Queen of New York, an independent film that received financing from haircare royalty brand göt2b®, chronicles the remarkable journey of Marti Cummings, a television personality, activist, and beloved drag queen, as they embark on a historic campaign to become New York City's first nonbinary council member. Premiering to critical acclaim at NewFest, the documentary captures Marti's fearless pursuit of political change amidst a landscape fraught with challenges and opponents.

At the heart of the film is Marti's unwavering passion and positivity, which inspire queer activists and allies alike to challenge the status quo. Behind the camera, director Emma Fidel brings her unparalleled expertise to the project, having previously worked on acclaimed documentaries for HBO, Netflix, and Amazon. Produced by Fidel, Robert Profusek, Daniel Ming, Gigi Dement, and executive produced by Donna Gruneich along with TRAVERSE32's Brendan Gaul and Brett Henenberg, her collaboration with Marti Cummings and the entire production team results in a film that is both visually captivating and emotionally resonant.
