Out got to sit down with Marvel Cinematic Universe initiate Matthew Macfadyen about joining the foul mouthed Deadpool franchise.

The Marvel Cinematic Universe is about to get a whole lot filthier, as Deadpool & Wolverine prepares to officially join the fam. The third of the Ryan Reynolds starring trilogy about the Merc with a Mouth is finally making good on many a fan’s wet dream and (re)uniting the character with Wolverine. And in spite of a pretty poetic sendoff in Logan, Hugh Jackman puts his Adamantium claws back on and straps on some spandex to return to the role.

Joining them is Succession and Pride & Prejudice alum Matthew Macfadyen, playing a character called Mr. Paradox. We couldn’t go into too much detail at the time of the interview, as Marvel is playing plot details close to the chest, but we'll just say he is one to watch, and Out got the chance to speak to Macfadyen about his time working on the film!

When it came to learning new colorful phrases and sexual positions from the notoriously dirty Deadpool scripts, Macfadyen admitted:

“I wasn't privy to all of them and I have to see the film again because some of them just went over my head. But, yeah, there were lots of… it was really hard not to break. Ryan's terrible. He's so fast and so quick, and there were… and he's behind this mask and so often he would just be coming out with alternate lines and words and phrases. So it was really difficult to keep a straight face, but yeah, I learned a few.”

And when compared to the set of Succession, he noted that:

“It felt, the way that we worked and in the way that we shot the scenes felt very similar in that it was very structured but kind of loose, like there wasn't… In Succession, I never worried about trying something that might not quite work. I felt exactly the same with Shawn and Ryan. We had a great script. I think the misconception is that people think we improvise a lot, and actually it's only a little. You have a really tight, wonderful script and then it means you can sort of skate a little bit.”
