Watch: New A Nice Indian Boy clip proves gay dating is funny & awful

Rom-coms? For spring? Groundbreaking.

But really: A Nice Indian Boy is one of the most hilarious and joyous gay rom-coms in recent history, and it's coming out in theaters this Friday, April 4 in theaters. The film features actors Karan Soni (Deadpool, Strange World) and Jonathan Groff (Looking, Knock at the Cabin) as the two leads who must overcome cultural differences and let their guard down while falling in love with each other.

Out has the exclusive premiere of a brand-new clip from A Nice Indian Boy featuring the film's main character, Naveen (played by Karan Soni), sliding into the DMs of guys he'd like to flirt with. The problem? Well, Naveen isn't exactly smooth when it comes to flirting.

With DMs and text messages ranging from "Guess you've been eating an apple a day, because you've kept this doctor away," to "I was talking to my mom today, and I remembered you have a mom. So, how are you, man?!" — you can now watch this full scene below.

Directed by Roshan Sethi, written by Eric Randall, and based on a play by Madhuri Shekar, A Nice Indian Boy is poised to become a fan-favorite among LGBTQ+ viewers, but also just a straight-up hilarious rom-com that even families can watch together.

Groff plays Jay in the film, a white man who grew up with adoptive Indian parents and goes on to become Soni's love interest in the film. Naveen's family also plays a huge role in the story, so get ready to laugh fall in love with his mom, Megha (played by Zarna Garg); his dad, Archit (played by Harish Patel); and his older sister Sunita (played by Arundhathi Gavaskar).

It's remarkable and thrilling to see a gay film that actually features two gay actors as the leads — one of them, the main character, played by a gay Indian American actor. And yet, it's even more exciting to watch A Nice Indian Boy and realize that it's also just a hilarious and endearing rom-com about two people falling in love.

Through specific stories and experiences, this new gay rom-com perfectly captures the humor, the romance, the frustrations, and the familial bond that any person around the world can easily recognize and relate to.

A Nice Indian Boy premieres April 4 in theaters.
