Are you ready to get Queer?
Just when we thought we couldn't be more excited for acclaimed director Luca Guadagnino's upcoming movie Queer, we've learned new information that completely changes the game.
We already knew that Queer is a historical romantic drama based on a William S. Burroughs novel that centers around an American expat in 1940's Mexico City. Lee, who will be played by Daniel Craig, then meets a younger man named Allerton (Outer Banks' Drew Starkey), a drug addict who was discharged from the Navy.
The film also stars Lesley Manville, Jason Schwartzman, Henry Zaga, Drew Droege, and Ariel Schulman, and will have music by Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross, who did the soundtrack for Guadagnino's last movie Challengers.
But in a new, exciting update, the movie is also set to have another star we love: out, Grammy-nominated R&B singer Omar Apollo!!!
Instagram (@omar.apollo)
We are obsessed with Apollo's music, and now we're beyond excited to see the Best New Artist Grammy nominee make his acting debut! Apollo is excited too, and posted the news to his Instagram story, saying he's excited that his first movie is with his "favorite director."
Jonathan Anderson, the creative director for Loewe, also posted an update on the film!
Anderson is doing the costumes for the movie after having done them for Guadagnino's latest film Challengers. Anderson posted an image of the movie on his Instagram, saying he is "very very very proud to have done the costumes on this amazing film with my best friend," and "with the best costume team in the world."
Queer will premiere at Venezia 81, the 81st annual Venice International Film Festival, which will be held from August 28 to September 7.
Hopefully, this means we'll be getting a trailer soon!
