We finally have a first look at Alex and Henry’s love connection in the upcoming gay rom-com Red, White & Royal Blue!
Based on the best-selling novel of the same name, Red, White & Royal Blue tells the story of the First Son of the United States, Alex, falling in love with a British Prince, Henry. The novel was written by Casey McQuiston and first published in 2019.
This motion picture adaptation cast Taylor Zakhar Perez (The Minx) to play Alex and Nicholas Galitzine (Cinderella) to play Henry. Other actors attached to the film include Uma Thurman, Sarah Shahi, Ellie Bamber, Stephen Fry, Clifton Collins Jr., Rachel Hilson, Thomas Flynn, and Juan Castano, among others.

In recent weeks, it was announced that Red, White & Royal Blue was rated R for “language, some sexual content, and partial nudity.” This rating from the Motion Picture Association of America (MPAA) gives us hope that this gay rom-com won’t be entirely “sanitized” to reach mass audiences. However, there’s also a chance that this more mature rating was assigned simply due to the film featuring a gay love story… which would be disappointing.
Though the Red, White & Royal Blue novel isn’t extremely explicit in its content, it does include a few key scenes of intimacy between the lead characters that should absolutely be featured in this movie adaptation. Here’s to hoping that we get those scenes without so many filters.
We can’t wait to watch this international love story unfold!
Red, White & Royal Blue premieres August 11 on Amazon Prime Video.
