The 2025 edition of the Sundance Film Festival presented awards to several queer projects.

Queer stalker film Twinless has picked up two big awards at the 2025 Sundance Film Festival.

Twinless won the Audience Award for US Dramatic Films, and star Dylan O'Brien picked up the US Dramatic Special Jury Award for Acting for his double role as twins in the dark comedy.

Twinless — from writer, director, and actor James Sweeney — stars Dylan O'Brien as Roman, a young man whose identical twin has recently died. When he goes to a bereavement group for people who've lost a twin, he meets Dennis, a nerdy and needy gay man.

The two soon become close friends and soon develop a codependent relationship that spirals out of control based on lies, secrets, and desire. The movie, as well as both lead performances, have been widely praised.

Another queer film, Plainclothes, about an undercover police officer who arrests gay men who are seeking sex in public bathrooms, took home the US Dramatic Special Jury Award for Ensemble Cast.

The film is led by Tom Blyth and features Russell Tovey, Maria Dizzia, Christian Cooke, Gabe Fazio, and Amy Forsyth.
