Out chats with the stars of Universal's new movie and asks them which Ariana Grande song they would bring into the magical (and musical!) world of the film.

Wicked fever is in full swing!

If the currently ongoing press tour for Universal Pictures' highly-anticipated new film is any indication, fans are dying to see Out100 cover star Cynthia Erivo take on the mantle of Elphaba in the epic (and musical!) origin story of Oz's Wicked Witch of the West!

Though the film is on-screen adaptation of one of the most critically-acclaimed and best-selling Broadway musicals of all time, another musical aspect of the film that is way too hard to ignore (because of her superstar power) is literal pop icon Ariana Grande, who stars opposite Erivo as Glinda the Good Witch (the role originated by Broadway queen and gay icon Kristin Chenoweth).

Out got the chance to attend the red carpet of the Los Angeles stop of Wicked's press tour, and we had to ask the stars of the film if they could bring one IRL Ariana Grande song into the land of Oz, what would it be? And the answers lets us know that, just like us, the Wicked cast loves them some Ari!

"She already knows, it's 'God is a woman,'" Erivo told Out, with Grande by her side, also showing some love to "we can't be friends (wait for your love)." "It's my favorite."

"'thank u next,' for sure," Chenoweth said, commenting on how perfectly it would fit in with the movie's themes. "Moving on from Fiyero, moving on from Elphaba, but coming back."

"I think maybe 'imperfect for you,'" 2024 Out100 honoree Marissa Bode, who plays Nessarose in Wicked, added. "There's a lot of flaws within all these characters, but [it's about] learning to let go and be imperfect for people."
