Even Google is getting in on the Wicked fun this week!
As the entire country prepares for the premiere of Universal Picture's highly-anticipated film adaptation of the beloved musical Wicked, even the world's biggest search engine is playing its part!
Adapted from the hit Broadway play and directed by Jon M. Chu, Wicked is about to become one of the biggest movies of the year as it opens in theaters this Friday. The film stars Cynthia Erivo as Elphaba and Ariana Grande as Glinda, and both stars, as well as the film, are getting a lot of Oscar buzz!
It almost seems like the whole internet is waiting for the movie to come out — and that includes Google!
Currently, if you go to Google and type words like "wicked," "Elphaba," "Glinda," "Galinda," "Ariana Grande," "Cynthia Erivo," and "Defying Gravity," a small green circle appears at the bottom of the computer screen with Elphaba's black witch hat in the middle.
Clicking on the circle unleashes some green smoke and pink bubbles (representing each of the witches), and starts music playing the film version of "Defying Gravity" as the search results start to defy gravity on their own, floating up to the top of the screen.
It's a cute feature that has us even more excited for the movie to come out!
Wicked is already getting rave reviews, including from Out, where we said "it soars even higher than expectations."
In addition to Erivo and Grande, Wicked also stars Jeff Goldblum as the Wizard, Michelle Yeoh as Madame Morrible, Jonathan Bailey as Fiyero, Ethan Slater as Boq, Marissa Bode as Nessarose, Peter Dinklage as Dr. Dillamond, Bowen Yang as Pfannee, and Bronwyn James as ShenShen.
