After a glorious two and a half weeks, the 2024 Olympics games in Paris have finally come to a close! From the star-packed opening ceremony to historic wins to all sorts of controversy to the musical closing ceremony, it has been an exciting Olympic season!
In the end, numerous out Olympians from various parts of the world medaled in different fields, and we're so proud of them for working hard and being their most authentic selves on the world stage!
Here are the LGBTQ+ Olympic medalists who made the community, and the world, so proud!
Amandine Buchard, Bronze, Judo

Amandine Buchard, a French judoka, won silver at the Tokyo games and returned this year hoping to medal again. This year, she was able to secure the bronze medal after beating Hungarian athlete Reka Pupp in the -52kg category for judo.

Buchard got her second medal of this Olympics in the mixed team judo competition, winning gold with France.
Lauren Scruggs, Silver, Women's Foil

Team USA's Lauren Scruggs took home the silver medal in the women's foil competition in fencing after losing to fellow American Lee Kiefer in the gold-medal match. It's her first Olympic medal. She'll have another shot at a medal with the team fencing event.

Scruggs (first from left) won her second medal of these Olympic games as a part of the US Women's foil team that won its first ever gold medal.
Tom Daley, Silver, Synchronized Diving

British diver Tom Daley (left) secured his fifth Olympic medal, and first silver, in the synchronized diving 10m platform competition this year. Daley and his diving partner, Noah Williams, placed second with 463.44 points, with China in first place at 490.35 points. Daley previously earned three bronze medals (one each at London, Rio, and Tokyo) and a gold medal from Tokyo.
Portia Woodman-Wickliffe, Gold, Rugby Sevens
Woodman-Wickliffe is a legend for the New Zealand women's rugby team, and led her team to its second gold medal in a row in what she says will be her final international match. New Zealand beat Canada in the gold medal game.
Olivia Apps, Silver, Rugby Sevens
The Canadian women's rugby team surprised the world by beating Australia in the semifinals to make it to the gold medal game against New Zealand where they lost. Silver is Canada's best-ever result in the Olympics. The team features out athelete Oliva Apps as team captain.
Lauren Doyle, Alev Kelter, Steph Rovetti, Kristi Kirshe, Nicole Heavirland, Kris Thomas, Bronze, Rugby Sevens
The US women's rugby team has six out players and just won the US's first Olympic medal in the sport in 100 years, beating Australia in the bronze medal match. Doyle (top row, sixth from left), Rovetti (bottom row, fifth from left), Kelter (top row, first from left), and Kirshe played in the game, while Heavirland and Thomas were reserves who didn't suit up.
Perris Benegas, Silver, BMX
Benegas won her first Olympic medal, getting silver in the women's BMX freestyle for Team USA. After she finished, she kissed her girlfriend Mikaela Herres.
Natalya Diehm, Bronze, BMX
Diehm was one of two out athletes to medal in the Women's BMX Freestyle event, winning the bronze medal for Australia.
Tabea Schendekehl, Bronze, Rowing
Schendekehl (second from left) won bronze with the German women's quad sculls rowing team. According to Outsports, she is the one of the first out pansexual athletes to win a medal at the Olympics.
Alice Bellandi, Gold, Judo
Italian Judoka Bellandi (right) won the gold medal in the 78k division of Judo on Thursday, marking the first time an Italian woman has won the gold medal since 2008.
Evy Leibfarth, Bronze, Canoe Slalom
20-year-old Leibfarth won bronze for the US team in the canoe slalom event in her second Olympic games. She has two more events coming up.
Alice Bellandi, Gold, Judo
Alice Bellandi of Italy defeated Israel's Inbar Lanir to win the gold medal in the women's 78k division, her country's first gold medal in women's judo since 2008.
Raz Hershko, Silver, Judo
Israeli judoka Raz Hershko won her first solo Olympic medal after winning silver in the women's judo +78k division. She had previously won a bronze medal as a part of Israel's mixed judo team at the Tokyo Olympics.
Maria Perez, Silver, Race Walk
Perez won the silver medal in the 20km race walk for Spain, finishing behind China's Yang Jiayu.
Maria Perez, Gold, Race Walking
Perez won her second medal of these games, a gold, as one half of the Spanish Marathon Race Walk Mixed Relay.
Emma Twigg, Silver, Rowing
Emma Twigg has competed in five Olympic games for New Zealand, and this year, won the silver medal in the singles sculls competition. She won a Gold medal in Tokyo.
Rafaela Silva, Bronze, Judo
Silva helped Brazil's mixed judo team win the bronze medal.
Sha'Carri Richardson, Silver, 100-meter dash
Richardson, making her Olympics debut, won the silver medal for Team USA in the 100-meter dash, finishing in 10.87 seconds.
Sha'Carri Richardson, Gold, 4x100 relay
Richardson got her much-hyped first gold medal as the anchor leg of Team USA's 4x100 sprint team.
Cathrine Laudrup-Dufour, Silver, Dressage
Laudrup-Dufour won silver as a part of Denmark's dressage team.
Carl Hester, Bronze, Dressage
Hester is a member of Great Britain's dressage team, who won bronze. Its his fourth medal in seven Olympic games.
Nesthy Petecio, Bronze, Boxing
After winning a silver medal in Tokyo, Petecio won bronze in the featherweight division for the Philippines.
Kellie Harrington, Gold, Boxing
Irish boxer Kellie Harrington has now won back-to-back Olympic golds in the women's 60kg division after she beat China's Wenlu Yang.
Svenja Brunckhorst, Gold, 3x3 Basketball
Basketball player Brunckhorst (third from left) is on the German women's 3x3 team that took home the gold medal.
Marianne Vos, Silver, Cycling
Vos won silver for the Netherlands in the women's cycling road race. This is her fifth Olympics, and she previously won gold at the 2012 London Olympics.
Michelle Kroppen, Silver, Archery
Kroppen (left) helped Team Germany win a silver medal in the mixed team archery event.
Beatriz Ferreira, Bronze, Boxing
Ferreira of Brazil lost to gold medalist Kellie Harrington in the semifinals of the 60kg category, earning bronze.
Breanna Stewart, Diana Taurasi, Alyssa Thomas, Brittney Griner, Jewell Loyd, Chelsea Gray, Kahleah Copper, Gold, Women's Basketball
Stewart (8th from left), Taurasi (10th from left), Thomas (6th from left), Griner (far right), Loyd (first on left), Gray (fifth from left), and Copper (red headband, fourth from left) were a part of the US Women's Basketball team that won gold and has won 8 consecutive Olympic golds and 61 games in a row.

Whitcomb (bottom row, far right) and Atwell (bottom row, third from left) won bronze along with the rest of the Australian women's team.
Paola Egonu, Gold, Volleyball
Egonu led Italy to her country's first ever Olympic gold medal in volleyball. She was her team's leading scorer in the final agaisnt the USA.

Washington is a member of the USA team that lost to Egonu and Italy in the gold medal match.

Veenendaal (in green) and Jochems (to her right) are a part of the Netherlands' gold medal winning team, with Veenendaal serving as the goalkeeper, helping the team win a shootout.

Vadlau, anlong with her mixed 470 double handed dinghy partner Lukas Maehr won the gold for Austria, their country's first at the Paris games.
