Revisit the roles that made 'White Lotus's Parker Posey a gay icon
Parker Posey is a national treasure!

Parker Posey in 'Josie and the Pussycats'; 'The White Lotus' season 3; 'Best in Show.'
Universal Pictures; Fabio Lovino/HBO; Warner Bros. EntertainmentSome of the best moments in season 3 of The White Lotus have come out of Parker Posey's incredible performance, which includes some amazing accent work as a drugged-out and boozy Southern woman vacationing in Thailand (or is it Taiwan?).
The show's entire cast is great, but Posey is bringing the kind of attitude and scenery-chewing that the show is known for, and is reminding viewers why she's so beloved, and why she's been that way for decades.
Posey has been in dozens of indies with acclaimed directors, like Noah Baumbach'sKicking and Screaming, Gregg Araki's Doom Generation, Hal Hartley's Henry Fool and Fay Grim, Greg Mottola's The Daytrippers, and Richard Linklater's subUrbia.
She's also appeared in major films and franchises like the Scream franchise, Superman Returns, Blade Trinity, and Ari Astor's Beau is Afraid.
For the last 30 years, Posey has consistently delivered some of the best acting in movies and TV, and The White Lotus is no different. But if you're just being introduced to her now, you may be wondering where else you can see her shine.

'Dazed and Confused'
One of Posey's first breakout roles was as Darla, the leader of the senior girls in Richard Linklater's high school classic Dazed and Confused. The film follows a wide-ranging group of incoming High School freshman and rising seniors on the last day of school in Austin, Texas in 1976. It features future stars like Ben Affleck, Milla Jovovich, Matthew McConaughey, Anthony Rapp, Adam Goldberg, Cole Hauser, Joey Lauren Adams, and Renée Zellweger.

'Party Girl'
Party Girl helped establish Posey as the "Queen of the Indies" in the 1990s, as described on IndieWire. In the film, she starred as Mary, a New York City party girl struggling to grow up and pay her bills while maintaining her wild and stylish lifestyle.

'House of Yes'
This debut film of Freaky Friday and Mean Girls director Mark Waters stars Posey as "Jackie-O" Pascal, a young woman recently released from a mental hospital who has an obsession with former First Lady Jackie Kennedy and her own brother, Marty.
Available to rent on Prime Video.
'Waiting for Guffman'
Posey has starred in several mostly-improvised mockumentary films from Christopher Guest, including this early one about a community theater group in a small town in Missouri who put on an original show for the town's 150th anniversary. Posey plays Libby Mae Brown, a Dairy Queen employee-turned actress, and stars alongside Guest, Eugene Levy (who co-wrote the film), Fred Willard, Catherine O'Hara, and more.
Available to rent on Prime Video.
'Scream 3'
In 2000, Posey had a mainstream breakout with the horror franchise film Scream 3, where she starred alongside Neve Campbell, Courteney Cox Arquette, David Arquette, Patrick Dempsey, and Scott Foley. In the film, she plays Jennifer Jolie, a Hollywood actress playing a fictional version of Gale, Courteny Cox Arquette's character in the movie's meta-film franchise Stab, which is based on the events of the earlier films.
Available for streaming on Max.
'Best in Show'
One of the most beloved of Christopher Guest's improvised mockumentaries is this 2000 comedy about the world of dog shows, in which Posey stars as one half of the impossibly high-strung yuppie couple (opposite Michael Hitchcock) who owns an equally stressed-out weimaraner. Eugene Levy, Catherine O'Hara, John Michael HIggins, Mchael McKean, Jennifer Coolidge, Guest, and Jane Lynch also star. Posey would go on to also star in Guest's future mockumentaries A Mighty Wind, For Your Consideration, and Mascots.
Available to rent on Prime Video.
'Josie and the Pussycats'
One of Posey's most enduring roles was in this iconic 2001 comedy where she played Fiona, the CEO of MegaRecords, the label who signs small-town band Josie and the Pussycats to be the "next big thing." Paired up with the inimitable Alan Cumming as Wyatt Frame, the two are some of the best villains in cinema history.
Available for streaming on Peacock.
'The Staircase'
On television, Posey has appeared in shows like Boston Legal, Parks and Recreation, The Good Wife, Search Party, and Lost in Space. In 2022, she appeared (along with her White Lotus co-star Patrick Schwarzenegger) in the true crime miniseries The Staircase as Durham county prosecutor Freda Black. The show, based on the docuseries of the same name, stars Colin Firth as Michael Peterson, a novelist who was accused of killing his wife after she was found dead at the bottom of a staircase in their home.
Available for streaming on Max.
'Mr. & Mrs. Smith'
In the recent TV adaptation of Mr. & Mrs. Smith starring Donald Glover and Maya Erskine as two spies who go undercover as a married couple, Posey showed up as another undercover spy. She earned a Primetime Emmy nomination for Outstanding Guest Actress in a Drama Series for her appearance on the show.
Available for streaming on Prime Video.
'The Parenting'
Posey stars alongside Brandon Flynn, Nik Dodani, and Lisa Kudrow in this new film about a young gay couple trying to introduce their parents to each other when they stay in a haunted house.
