A popular WeHo gym closed its steam room. The gays are threatening to boycott.

Well, it's over. The steam room at the Crunch Fitness in West Hollywood, California has been permanently closed.

On Monday, Weho Times reported that a Crunch Fitness general manager was seen posting a sign that reads, "Steam Room is Permanently Closed. Please speak to the Front Desk if you have any questions."

In late January, Crunch announced via signage that the steam room was temporarily closed "due to inappropriate conduct by members. Reopening is under review and will be determined the week of January 27, 2025."

WehoTimes reports that the steam room opened again two weeks later on Monday, February 3, due in part to some members threatening to cancel their memberships or requesting discounts, arguing that the steam room was a part of their patronage and dues for the gym.

On the other hand, the reopening of the steam room included a new sign. "Inappropriate behavior will result in your membership being terminated," it read. "100%. End of Story. Full stop."

Sean Renzetti, a manager at Crunch WeHo, also posted about the closer on his social media. "Being the manager at Crunch, yes, if you are participating in sexual activity in our public space, which is illegal (I am gay, so let’s not make it OK because it’s a ‘gay thing’), I will terminate your membership immediately," read his post. "Thanks for understanding"

Just two weeks later, the steam room has been permanently closed. Some members threaten to cancel their memberships and boycott the gym if it remains closed.

"I signed up for this gym because of their steam room and have not been able to use it for a week," member Jason Thompson told Weho Times. "I’m now not getting what I paid for."

Back in 2022, this same location for Crunch Fitness reportedly went viral for the sign it posted on its closed steam room.

"ATTENTION MEMBERS," that sign read. "Please DO NOT HAVE SEX in the Men's Locker Room! You can have sex literally anywhere else, just not at Crunch Fitness. Otherwise, your membership will be immediately revoked. Please keep this a safe space for all Crunchers."
