Not so fast.
Fans were loving a recent clip of an Adele concert where she calls out an audience member for allegedly complaining about Pride Month, but now, it seems as though the fan didn't actually say what we initially thought he said.
During a segment of the June 1 show of Adele's Weekends With Adele Las Vegas residency where the Oscar- and Grammy-winning icon was chatting with the audience, a man shouted out something from the audience.
"What was that? Did you just say, 'Pride sucks?'" Adele asked, according to footage that was posted on TikTok by user @kimberly.gray5. "Did you come to my f*cking show and just say that Pride sucks? Are you f*cking stupid? Don’t be so f*cking ridiculous."
Fans of course erupted into applause.
Now, more footage has been released, and you can hear what the man actually says.
In the footage, which shows the moments before the man shouted, we get a better idea of what happened. While Adele was talking about working, the man yelled out what sounds like "work sucks," not "Pride sucks."
Others have come to the audience member's defense, saying that he did indeed say "work sucks."
"Hate to defend a m*n but the guy was somewhere behind me and he said 'work sucks' not 'pride sucks'" one X (formerly Twitter) user said.
Another fan also defended the man who shouted.
"Yeah I was in the section next to him. He said work sucks because she mentioned something about working," another user wrote. "It was all very awkward."
Hopefully, it turns out that the man did indeed shout "work sucks." But either way, Adele still showed us all how to be an excellent ally.
