It's been almost three years since Ariana Grande released her latest album positions (the longest the pop star has gone without releasing a new album in her entire career) and Arianators have been absolutely, ravenously starving in this drought. But our Mother has answered our prayers!
On its 10th anniversary, Grande has rereleased her debut album Yours Truly with seven additional tracks.
Following the LP's original 12 songs, the Yours Truly (Tenth Anniversary Edition) kicks off with a Spanglish version of "The Way" for some reason, which then leads into the freshly-recorded, live versions of her songs, "Daydreamin'," "Baby I," "Tattooed Heart," and "Right There" featuring Big Sean.
And unlike other pop stars rereleasing their old music, Grande includes new riffs, beats, and moments for fans.
A refreshed version of "Honeymoon Avenue" features a funky doo-wop vibe. And in an especially emotional moment for listeners, the new live version of "The Way" includes a special tribute to Grande's ex, the late Mac Miller, who died of an overdose in 2018 just four months after they reportedly broke up. As the song enters Miller's prerecorded verse, the original instrumental drops out and the sound is filled with tender violin strings welling up behind his voice. It's a breathtaking moment that brought this listener to tears.
And today's release is just the beginning. Grande has announced that live performance videos for each song are coming in the next few days, concluding with "The Way" on Wednesday, August 30. Fans can also expect two Q&As in the coming days, merch capsules, behind-the-scenes footage, and even a vinyl preorder.
"Honeymoon Avenue" and "Daydreamin'" are out now.
