Billie Eilish's 'What Was I Made For' wins Grammy for Song of the Year

Billie Eilish’s Barbie anthem “What Was I Made For?” has taken home the trophy for Song of the Year at the 66th Grammy Awards!

Eilish won the award over Olivia Rodrigo, SZA, Miley Cyrus, Dua Lipa, Jon Batiste, Taylor Swift, and Lana Del Rey. The song is also up for an Oscar later this year.

In her speech, Eilish thanked Greta Gerwig for “making the best movie of the year."

This is her second time winning the award. She previously won Song of the Year for “Bad Guy” in 2020. Other queer winners in the last 20 years include Sam Smith, who won in 2015 for “Stay with Me,” and Luther Vandross, who won in 2004 for “Dance with My Father.”

Eilish had already won the award for Best Song for Visual Media earlier in the afternoon, making her a nine time winner overall.

After hinting at her sexuality for a long time, Eilish came out as being “physically attracted” to women in a cover story for Variety’s Power of Women issue.

“I love them so much. I love them as people. I’m attracted to them as people. I’m attracted to them for real,” she said about other women. “I have deep connections with women in my life, the friends in my life, the family in my life. I’m physically attracted to them. But I’m also intimidated by them and their beauty and their presence.”
