Goosebumps.
Pop music legend Céline Dion returned to the stage for the finale number at the Paris 2024 Olympics opening ceremony.
Dion delivered a triumphant and emotional rendition of Edith Piaf's "Hymne A L'Amour" during the performance, which took place at the Eiffel Tower. Looking absolutely stunning, strong, and inspired, Dion gave the world one of the most unforgettable televised performances in history… and we are so lucky to have her.
You can watch Dion's full performance below.
Dion's performance has been highly anticipated after she was diagnosed "with a very rare neurological condition called stiff-person syndrome" in 2022. The condition is incurable and causes debilitating muscle spasms that have affected her for the last two years, which she spoke about in her recent documentary, I Am Celine Dion.
"Unfortunately, these spasms affect every aspect of my daily life," she shared at the time of her diagnosis. "Sometimes causing difficulties when I walk and not allowing me to use my vocal cords to sing the way I'm used to."
Earlier this week, Dion shared her excitement about being in Paris on Instagram. "Every time I return to Paris, I remember there’s so much beauty and joy still to experience in the world," she wrote. "I love Paris, and I’m so happy to be back! Thank you to our wonderful friends at The Louvre!"
