Chappell Roan: 'I wouldn't be here without trans girls'

First-time nominee Chappell Roan arrived at the 67th Grammy Awards looking stunning and sharing powerful statements while walking the red carpet.

Notably, Roan spoke up about trans rights during an interview with GLAAD. The Rise and Fall of a Midwest Princess singer said:

"It's brutal right now, but trans people have always existed, and they will forever exist. And they will never — no matter what happens — take trans joy away. That has to be protected more than anything, because I wouldn't be here without trans girls."

The pop star concluded, "Just know that pop music is thinking about you and cares about you. I'm trying my best to really stand up for you in every way I can."

Despite this being the first time that Roan was nominated for a Grammy Award, the pop star earned a total of six nominations — including all four top-of-the-line categories: Album of the Year (The Rise and Fall of a Midwest Princess), Record of the Year ("Good Luck, Babe!"), Song of the Year ("Good Luck, Babe!"), and Best New Artist.

Roan's two other nominations were in the Best Pop Solo Performance ("Good Luck, Babe!" and Best Pop Vocal Album (The Rise and Fall of a Midwest Princess) categories.

The 2025 Grammys could be a great night for Roan — one that she already kicked off by speaking up about trans rights.

The 67th Grammy Awards aired Sunday, Feb. 2 on CBS and Paramount+.
