Singer-songwriter Daniel Bedingfield, the older brother of "Pocketful of Sunshine" singer Natasha Bedingfield, opened up about the queer origins of one of his songs at a recent show in London.
On Tuesday, April 23, Bedingfield performed his single "Borderline" at the London Palladium and revealed to the sold-out crowd that he penned it with a man he had feelings for.
"I wrote this song with a man I loved about a girl we both loved," he shared, according to Daily Mail.
"In my era, you had to be gay or straight, or f**k you."
This is reportedly the first time he's spoken about his sexuality.
The singer concluded, "I'm not very gay, but we were on a hot spring, sitting on a rock, missing her.."
Bedingfield released two albums in 2002 and 2004, the most popular tracks being "Gotta Get Thru This" and "If You're Not the One," which both reached No. 1 in the U.K. and Top 15 in the U.S, and a string of singles and EPs since.
As of now, "Borderline" doesn't appear to be on streaming services. It's unclear if the track is an older, unreleased song or something new Bedingfield is preparing to officially release.
