A new bisexual weed anthem is inspiring folks to literally roll their joints.
"Sativa," the debut single from bi actor and style influencer David Granados, sparked a trend of sexy dancing on social media, with folks sharing videos of shaking their tail feathers.
The track was inspired by "a passionate encounter during a sativa edible trip" in Miami after the Latin Billboard Awards, according to a press release. The Spanish-language song recounts the artist's coming-out journey as bi — and was intended to queer up reggaeton, a traditionally straight music genre that blends Latin American, Caribbean, and hip hop.
"‘Sativa’ is not just a song; it’s a celebration of identity and freedom," Granados tells Out. "This song is my love letter to being bi and fully embracing it as part of who I am. Growing up in a traditional environment, challenging the binary, singing queer lyrics, and talking about a threesome and cannabis consumption feels subversive but also very healing. The world loves reggaeton, but it’s a straight male-dominated industry. It’s time to give queer people queer lyrics to dance to, and I know my inner child would be very proud."
This is not the first time Granados has been a groundbreaker in the entertainment industry. The out Latino creative has brought queer visibility to TV with acting appearances in Pose, West Side Story, and Saturday Night Live. He also styled Out's splashy swimwear spread with Drag Race Pit Crew members Bruno and Bruce.
