Demi Lovato sent shockwaves to her fandom when she tweeted asking everyone’s favorite scary movie with an announcement of her new single, “Still Alive.”
The tweet also includes a link to a presave the song, which will be released on March 3, 2023 as part of the Scream VI soundtrack. The presave site also includes a phone number for listeners to dial “at your own risk” for a preview of the song.
Those who indulge in the preview may recognize the voice of actor Roger L. Jackson, who voices Ghostface in the Scream series.
“Hello, Lovatic, do you like scary movies?” Jackson asks in the intro. “What about your favorite artist’s song in a scary movie? Let me give you something to sink your teeth in.”
The preview of the punk-rock song follows, where Lovato sings, “Still alive, I don’t want to just survive.”
The sixth installment of the Scream series has caused some grief among fans, as Courteney Cox’s Gale Weathers is expected to be the only character to appear in all six installments. Fan favorite Sidney Prescott, played by Neve Campbell, left the franchise ahead of the sixth installment after a dispute in payment.
“I honestly don’t believe that if I were a man and had done five installments of a huge blockbuster franchise over 25 years, that the number that I was offered would be the number that would be offered to a man,” Campbell told People at the time.
Scream VI, which follows four survivors of the Ghostface killings as they try to start over, will be released on March 10, exactly one week after “Still Alive” hits the airwaves. Check out the trailer below:
