Is Frank Ocean ready to make his big comeback?

Frank Ocean is teasing us!

For the first time since April 2020, Frank Ocean is teasing new music!

Ocean released one minute of a new, unreleased song on his Instagram Stories, getting us all hyped up that 2024 might be the Year of New Frank Ocean.

The new song features some Frank Ocean staples, including synth and autotuned, distorted vocals singing complex, emotional lyrics about a difficult relationship like, “your heart’s been tangled in barbed wires, you can hand it to me, I can handle it,” and “you got boundaries, they’re just obstacles you put in between us.”

So far, Ocean has not commented on the song, but fans are hoping that it could be a sign that the artist is working on his first album since 2016’s Blonde. Since that album, Ocean has only released a few singles, with 2019’s “In My Room” being the last song of his to chart in the US.

Ocean’s last new songs were “Cayendo” and “Dear April,” which he released in April of 2020. He had planned on releasing another single later that year, but canceled it.

Earlier this year, Ocean headlined Coachella, a concert many thought would be seen as his big comeback, hopefully with new music. Instead, Ocean only sang — and played tracks of — older songs, vibing along with them. He also showed up nearly an hour late for the set and ended it after just about half an hour.

Ocean really is one of the best musicians and artists of his generation, and we’d love to see some new work from him. Hopefully, these teases will soon lead to something more substantial!
