The new song comes out this Friday, January 12!

Lil Nas X is firmly in his Christian era.

Rapper and pop star Lil Nas is repping Jesus as he announced that his upcoming single, out this Friday, will be called “J Christ,” and “is dedicated to the man who had the greatest comeback of all time!”

Lil Nas X announced the song’s name in a post that also shows the single’s artwork, a picture of Montero on a cross that’s being pulled up by several models as a sunbeam shines down from heaven onto his face.

He also shared another image related to the single when he shared the presave link, which goes to the URL BeginningisNear.com. That post features a short video of Lil Nas on a golden cross that transforms into a mecha suit of armor around him as a choir sings.

Unsurprisingly, many conservative Christians are coming for Lil Nas X, claiming that he is “mocking” Christianity and Jesus. But Lil Nas X is having none of that.

“The crazy thing is nowhere in the picture is a mockery of Jesus,” he tweeted. “Jesus’s image is used throughout history in people’s art all over the world. I’m not making fun of shit. Y’all just gotta stop trying to gatekeep a religion that was here before any of us were even born. STFU.”

Lil Nas X has been teasing this new era of music for a couple of months, first dropping a snippet of a new song and then revealing that he “wrote and directed my own music video for the first time,” at the end of last year. Now, we only have a few days of waiting left.
