Lorde Summer 2025 is coming: Singer reveals new song 'What Was That'

A new Lorde era is nigh!

The groundbreaking 28-year-old singer-songwriter has announced new music, and it's dropping sooner than you might think!

"My new song What Was That," Lorde wrote on Instagram. "Out soon."

Lorde has also updated her Instagram bio. It reads, "The themes are always the same — a return to innocence — the mysteries of the blood — an itch for the transcendental."

No other information about the song or release date has been provided, but Lorde's social media includes a link that takes fans to pre-save links on Spotify and Apple Music.

The song will Lorde's first solo release since 2021's Solar Power, her third studio album.

The singer has scrubbed her social media accounts besides two other posts. The first, captioned "Indio haze," appears to be candid photos of Lorde in a dressing room. Lorde surprised fans by appearing on stage at Coachella with Charli xcx in her Saturday set. The two performed their 2024 brat-era hit "Girl, so confusing." The second is a finger drawing of a heart in a fogged up window alongside a studio shot and teeth selfie.

It's unclear how these two posts pertain to the new music coming out, but fans are itching with excitement.
