Maren Morris was among the LGBTQ+ allies who performed at the Love Rising benefit concert held in Nashville, Tennessee to raise funds and awareness regarding the recent anti-drag and anti-trans bills introduced in certain U.S. states.

Along with Morris, the Love Rising lineup featured performers such as Hayley Williams, Sheryl Crow, Shea Diamond, and Brittany Howard, among others. The event also included drag artists like RuPaul’s Drag Race star Aura Mayari, Alexia Noelle Paris, Britney Banks, Jaxson Stone, and Sasha Dereon, to name a few.

During her performance at Love Rising, Morris took a direct shot at the conservative politicians who are attempting to pass these outlandish bills that significantly restrict drag artists from performing. The singer is seen telling the audience in a re-shared clip from her Instagram story:

“Yes, I introduced my son to some drag queens today. So, Tennessee, f*cking arrest me.”

Morris has always been very outspoken in her allyship to the LGBTQ+ community, but she has been dialing up her support even higher lately given that trans people and drag artists have been getting even more attacks from conservative pundits.

In 2022, Jason Aldean’s wife Brittany Kerr Aldean made transphobic comments on Instagram, which prompted Morris to quickly call her out on social media.

“It’s so easy to, like, not be a scumbag human? Sell your clip-ins and zip it, Insurrection Barbie,” Morris tweeted.

Unfortunately, Morris has been facing some backlash from other artists in country music that tend to politically align with conservative viewpoints. Nonetheless, she isn’t afraid of speaking her mind and standing with the LGBTQ+ community during these troubling times – and we love her for that!
