Brush off your driver’s license and head to the record store, Olivia Rodrigo has announced her second album!
The 20-year-old Grammy winner surprised fans by announcing that her highly anticipated sophomore album will arrive later this year!
“My sophomore album GUTS comes out September 8th,” she wrote in a recent post on Instagram. “I am so proud of this record and I can’t wait to share it with you all!”
The album cover features Rodrigo in a black top over a purple background chewing on one of her black-painted fingernails while wearing rings that spell out GUTS. The imagery is similar to that of her debut album Sour, but with a darker edge.
“For me, this album is about growing pains and trying to figure out who I am at this point in my life,” Rodrigo said in a press release. “I feel like I grew 10 years between the ages of 18 and 20—it was such an intense period of awkwardness and change. I think that’s all just a natural part of growth, and hopefully the album reflects that.”
“I made the bulk of this album during my 19th year on this earth,” she said in another statement. “A year that, for me, was filled with lots of confusion, mistakes, awkwardness & good old fashioned teen angst.”
Rodrigo started teasing her new music era when she announced that her song “Vampire” would be out on June 30th.
Rodrigo had previously starred in the Disney+ show High School Musical: The Musical: The Series, but her character left the show last season. The upcoming season will be the final one for the show.
We can’t wait to be bitten by her new single!
